Jokulsarlon Lagoon Icebergs

Just where the mouth of Jokulsarlon Lagoon meets the Atlantic Ocean on an outgoing tide you can walk the beach and see mountains of icebergs washing up along the shoreline of the black sand beach.

With the striking blue ice against the jet black sand and white crashing waves the whole scene is just eye candy. While the whole scene is changing with each crashing wave I had to work quick to capture all these elements while the iceberg was still in a good position to photograph. I knew I wanted some movement in the image so I used a slightly slower shutter speed but I also wanted the action of the waves crashing in the background so I could not leave the shutter open too long.
