London Arch Great Ocean Road

I decided for dramatic effect to use black-and-white & a long exposure to capture the dramatic form of London Arch, formerly known as London Bridge, along the rugged coastline of Great Ocean Road. The rock formation stretches horizontally across the frame, its weathered limestone surface etched with textures and subtle tonal contrasts.

The long exposure transforms southern ocean waves & the surrounding water into a smooth, mist-like veil, softening the scene and contrasting with the solidity of the rock. Above, a approaching winter storm looks to be coming in and the brooding sky blends seamlessly into the distant horizon, creating a quiet, almost ethereal atmosphere. The monochrome palette enhances the timeless quality of the landscape, emphasizing form, light, and shadow while evoking a sense of isolation and enduring natural power.
